The borough is part of Veolia’s main northern New Jersey system, which serves about 807,000 people from the Oradell Reservoir, the Wanaque Reservoir, the Saddle River and a set of Brunswick aquifer wells. Because it is a blend, taste, chlorine level and hardness can shift with the season and with which source is carrying the load that week.
Veolia has 12 PFAS treatment systems operating across the state and 14 more in design or construction, and its 2024 sampling met primary standards. The system still reports nearly 14,000 known lead service lines and more than 200,000 lines of lead or unknown material, so what happens between the main and your kitchen tap deserves attention.
